Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee your legacy and allow you to specify how you want your gift used. Your gift can be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions are specified. Sample Language
For an unrestricted gift that allows the ACPL Foundation to determine how to best use the funds based on the most critical needs, use the following language for your will and/or trust:
“I give to the Albany County Public Library Foundation (ACPLF), a non-profit organization currently located at 310 S. 8th St., Laramie, WY 82070, or its successor thereto, _________ [provide written amount of percentage of estate or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.”
To designate a gift for a specific purpose or project:
“I give to the Albany County Public Library Foundation (ACPLF), a non-profit organization currently located at 310 S. 8th St., Laramie, WY 82072, or its successor thereto, _________ [provide written amount of percentage of the estate or description of the property]. This gift should be used for _______ [state purpose/project] if and so long as the ACPL Foundation determines that the need exists. If the ACPL Foundation shall determine that the need does not exist, no longer exists, or for some reason it is not possible (or prudent) to administer my gift as originally intended, than the ACPL Foundation may, in its discretion, direct the use of my bequest for a purpose related as closely as possible to that stated above.”
